14th sep

today we was still doing djing but this time we was doing the pratical work. Two guys from 'Point Blank' came in to help us with dj-ing "Nigel & Ian". the first thing they thought us to do was put the decks together. there was 3 dj sets so we had to spilt up in 3 groups because the 3 decks were differnt we had to rotate round to make sure everyone had a go on each one.

After that was done they demonstrated scratching, drop mixing and cross fading. They took they’re music of a laptop connected to the vinals. Next they asked each student to come up and demonstrate these three skills.i found the drop mix and cross fadeing easy but was having problem with the scratching.

7th december

This was our first day back we was starting something new. we was slit in to two groups my group was doing dj-ing i was excited wen i foud our beacuse its diffrent to to wat we usually do.

me and the dj-ing group had to go on computers and do reacerch about dj-ing. we had to find out
  • what dj-ing is
  • the equipments
  • who created what and what the techinues are
  • what they do.

we had the whole day to finish it and either do a presenntation in powerpoint or just a typing on word. the djing course would also give us half a GCSE so this made me happy.

24th july Good Hair

Good Hair

Today the whole class went to see Good hair in ritz brixton.Good Hair is a 2009 American comedy documentary film produced by Chris Rock Productions and HBO Films. The film is about African American women's hair, including the styling industry the acceptable look of African American women's hair in society, were do are hair come from.

The film is good it has a lot of sexism and judgment but this causes the humour
The film made me think about what I put on my hair when I relax it. Theirs scenes that shows when woman buys hair that is not black to be more like another race, in order to be "beautiful".
I never even thought about the fact that these women are buying hair from women in India (who don't even know their hair is being sold sometimes) to make them look good.
The thing that shocked me was when a group of African-American women say they would not take another woman seriously on a job interview if she had 'nappy hair' - that "nappy" hair with a suit is a contradiction. Nappy means tough black hair.

The scene that got me thinking was when Chris rock went to hair shops trying to sale black hair and got turned down in every shop. There was too much sexism & judgement from the men. It's very easy for them to judge when they don’t have much hair themselves. They can just go bald or very short. If they were required (for the sake of good looks) to have long hair, I'm sure they would do the same thing. Buying loads of products, not letting people touch their hair the list goes on.

Chris Rock interview lots celebrities and businesspeople from hair care industry such as Ice-T, Nia Long, Paul Mooney, T-Pain, Raven-Symoné, Maya Angelou, KRS-One, Salt-n-Pepa, Kerry Washington, Eve, Reverend Al Sharpton, and Meagan Good as they discuss their own experiences with their hair, and how black hair is perceived in the black community.

20th july

In drama we had to check are monologue and see if it was all finished and if we wanted to change anythink. then me and my group went through are monologue to see what parts we are going to change when we are doing our final recording , im not speaking at all in the monologue.

In dance it was very hard to put the cloth on are feet because we had to cover all parts of are body, we had lots of stretches in the dance this means that it will be more difficult for the cloth to stay on my feet. in my group we have decided that because buki was the best in our group to dance in the cloth she would be the only one.

In drama my group recorded are monologue then we edited it we added are music to are monologue then we put some effect to show what happening, it. After finishing are effects the whole class had to write a evaluation about what we did, was it hard for us, what type of things we did.In dance what we did was go over the whole dance move again so we wouldn't forget the dance over the half term so we can record it.

7th july

Today in drama all groups was given mac laptop so we can record are monologue onto them. After a man came in to show us how to use the garage band to record are monologue then he said that we can play on the garage band to just get a feel over it. Then in my group we got buki to say the monologue so we could record it after that we started to put some sound onto it we didnt get to finish so we had to continue next week.

in dance we stated makeing our piece. buki was the gay boy and me and jadian was the people against homosexuality. the dace was ok i kina in joyed it our group had loads of ideas but we couldent use all of them.

29th june

Today in dance we had a dance teacher from Royal Dance came to teach the class some movement for are dance. She was teaching us about how we can use Alwin Nikloais dance into are movement, Alwin Nikloais was modern dance’s pioneer of multimedia. she taught us some dance in noumenon, then are teacher give the class some cloth that we have to use for are dance then we had to get into the cloth so we could make shapes and practice using the cloth.
we then had to learn a short piece of movement that we will be proforming in the cloths.i found it hard to dance in the cloth.

In drama the class was reading a monogule by Benjamin Zephaniah called "miss world" after reading miss world mrs williams give us question to ask about the poem. we then was put into groups to share our ideas of the monologue we all made. in my group it was me, jadian, buki. we all chose jadians idea but changed it a bit.our monologue was based on homosexuality.

In this project we had to work in groups, record are monogule for are dance ,use music which we thought would fit good with our monologue, we have to make up are own dance for the story then we have to preform the dance to other people.
